Alireza Hosseinpour won a silver medal in the taekwondo men's 63kg of 2022 Asian Games on Tuesday.

The Iranian athlete lost to Thailand’s Banlung Tubtimdang 2-0 in final in Hangzhou.

Hosseinpour had defeated Indonesia’s Muhammad Bassam Raihan 2-0, Pakistan’s Muhammad Arbaz Khan 2-0, Gibeom Lee of South Korea 2-0 and Jordan’s Zaid Alhalawani 2-0 en route to the final.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the 2022 Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
