Iran’s Salahshouri wins bronze in women's taekwondo poomsae

Iran’s Marjan Salahshouri claimed a bronze medal in the Women's Individual Poomsae at the 19th Asian Games on Sunday.

She lost to Japanese Yuiko Niwa in the semifinals, according to Tehran Times.

Salahshouri had defeated Bangladesh’s Miss Ruma Khatun and Malaysian Nurul Hidayah Binti Abdulkarim earlier in the day.

In the final at Lin'an Sports Culture & Exhibition Centre, Korea's Cha Yea-eun defeated Niwa in the gold medal match.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.

The 19th edition of the Games kicked off in Hangzhou, China, on Saturday and features 481 events over 40 sports, with around 12,000 athletes set to take part, more than are expected to compete at the Paris Olympics next year.
